Bill is the originator, curator, and inspiration behind all the beauty that East Tennesseans have been enjoying during the Dogwood Arts Festival at Baxter Gardens for the past 12 years. Bill was incredibly generous in sharing his property and his love of natural and cultivated gardens during the month of April. The outpouring of gratitude, thank you notes, drawings, and other forms of appreciation that so many have offered over the years was a source of great pleasure for Bill.
This past April there were over 30,000 visitors to Baxter Gardens. The Gardens truly have become “over-loved” by enthusiasm and attention. For this reason and Bill’s passing, Baxter Gardens will be closed to the public this coming April of 2025. Please be respectful of Bill’s property and his family as you make your plans to attend the many other Dogwood Arts Festival gardens and events in 2025.
Thank you for your attention and appreciation over the past years and may you enjoy many, many gardens in the future.
